On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Amitabh Bachchan launched Shivrani Somaia’s song “Maai-ri” to pay homage to the unique role that all the mothers have played in the life of each individual.

UK born and raised creative entrepreneur, Shivrani Somaia who has a series of non-filmy theme tracks under her music banner Shivaa Sounds,composed and sang her debut single ‘Maai-ri’ a light Indian pop number dedicated to all the mothers across the globe “Maai-ri’ is the first track released and will be globally available from 14th May. “The composition and lyrics are intended to be simple and catchy”, says Somaia. “This track is particularly close to my heart as it is a collaboration between my mother Vandana Somaia (who is also a vocalist) and I”
Singer, Composer, Shivrani Somaia has managed to beautifully intertwine music with poetry to produce a sentimental track which touches a chord within the heart when listening to it. A very pure and genuine song accompanied by contemporary arrangement and acoustic instruments enhancing the deep and meaningful lyrics which will propel you to shed a tear or two and feel nostalgic. It’s a song which makes you think, smile, shed a tear or two, nostalgic. Shivrani Somaia delivers vocals as rich and as solemn as you will hear for a long time. The lyrics of the song is so simple yet out of this world.

Shivrani Somaia was born in London to a family of musicians and from the age of 4 has been studying, practising and performing music. Having being raised within an Indian family in the UK, Shivrani has developed a diverse range of musical knowledge combining both Western and Eastern influences.
Shivrani Somaia began her musical journey with intense piano training from a young age, which was soon coupled with western vocal classes. As time went on, it was important for her to also focus time and attention on Hindustani vocal training to help enhance her repertoire. More recentlyShivrani has chosen to use her musical foundation to begin a series of non-filmy theme tracks, with deep topical subject matter.
