International Fashion designer Ritu Beri honored with the title of “The Lady of the Order of Civil Merit”.
New Delhi : International fashion designer , Ritu Beri, having been conferred the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters), one of the highest civilian awards by the French government, for her contribution to the fashion industry now adds another feather to her hat and was awarded the distinguished decoration of the Lady of the Order of Civil Merit, by His Royal Decision.
Beri who received the Millennium Achiever and Rashtriya Shiromani Awards in the year 2000, the Global Excellence Award in 2004 and the Kalpana Chawla Excellence Award in 2007 has been a pioneer in international fashion and boasts of clients like former US President Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, Moulin Rouge, Nicole Kidman, Hollywood actress Andie MacDowell, Langes Swarovski & The Swarovski family, Elizabeth Jagger and Jerry Hall to name a few.
In the presence of distinguished Chief Guest Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Hon’ble External Affairs Minister and the Ambassador of Spain, Gustavo de Arístegui,Ritu Beri was decorated with the Order of the Civil Merit (Orden del Mérito Civil) acknowledging her efforts in enhancing Indo-Spanish relations at the Residence of the Ambassador in New Delhi.
On the occasion said Ritu Beri, “It’s an honor to be bestowed with the title and it is truly encouraging. I always believe in the concept of karma. The impossibilities, the challenges, the gut feel and my instinct ~ this is what my work and I have always been about.”
