India’s biggest filmmaking event now gets even bigger – announces Shyam Benegal, Hansal Mehta and Umesh Shukla as jury for its 2014 edition

Entries open for the 4th edition of the India Film Project

 India Film Project, the largest filmmaking event in the country, announces its 4th edition with renowned filmmakers Shyam Benegal, Hansal Mehta and Umesh Shukla donning the Jury’s hat. The event that aims to provide an unmatched platform to aspiring filmmakers, challenging them to create a film in a span of just 50 hours, is now calling for entries and will close registrations on 7th September 2014.

The India Film Project is a unique national online & offline event that gives aspiring filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their talent to not just the best in the industry but also the world. The India Film Project challenges one to script, shoot, edit & submit a short film in just 50 hours once the theme is announced. 50 hours is all you have to interpret the subject, write a brilliant script, discover the most appropriate location for the shoot, select good cast for the movie, compose gripping music and submit your entries online.

The eminent jury will review each and every entry and the winners will get a chance to showcase their talent to the rest of the world.

Speaking on the launch, Hansal Mehta says, “Film challenges like this are an excellent opportunity for upcoming filmmakers to hone their skills and network with peers in their community. I am excited to be a part of this amazing contest and hope to see some great work”.

Indian cinema’s most prolific and influential filmmaker, Shyam Benegal says, “IFP is a great platform to discover new talent. I am eager to see the work done by the aspiring filmmakers in just 50 hours and wish them good luck”.

Our growth from 600 entries (11 cities) in the first year to 4200 (44 cities, 5 countries) in the third; is a validation of our belief. We hope that India Film Project continues to be a platform that popularizes the art of filmmaking and we look forward to seeing some innovative and imaginative films this year as well, says Ritam Bhatnagar, Founder-Director, IFP.
