As the fastest growing Film Festival in the country, the Mumbai Film Festival has announced a new initiative as part of the Mumbai Film Mart to fuel cinematic cross cultural ties. This time in the form of the ‘India Project Room’, an initiative aimed at showcasing under-production Indian films for pre-selection and interest by international Festival Programmers and Buyers.
This unique 3-day initiative will launched at the 3rd Mumbai Film Mart (MFM) from 18th – 20th October, the marketplace for conducting the business of films. The MFM attracts top international buyers, sales agents and programmers to interact with the leading Indian Studios, filmmakers, producers and distributors.
The ‘India Project Room’ initiative will encourage more international festival programmers and buyers to easily access a larger number of quality Indian films at a single venue thereby opening up more visibility and markets for Indian Cinema.
“We are proud to announce the India Project room. As a Festival Director, I understand the need for such an initiative, given that we are a diverse country and that scouting for films maybe difficult. The India Project Room will be a great way for Indian filmmakers and producers to showcase their forthcoming films to festival programmers and selectors to see what India has to offer for the coming year.” Says Srinivasan Narayanan, Director, Mumbai Film Festival.
