India poised to be a media super power says Col. Rathore

The Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Col (Retd). Rajyavardhan Singh rathore today invited the Television and Film Industry to partner the government in creating a centre of excellerance in the field of gaming animation and special effects.  Speaking at the Valedictory session of FICCI FRAMES-2015, the Minister said the government could put up land and other infrastructure but it was the industry who could give it life.  Talking about improving the Film and Television institute,  he said the government wants this centre to set a  bench mark in the field and said its proximity to the   industry could allow it to use its expertise.

The Minister said the Information & Broadcasting Ministry was promoting Film and TV industry which was reaching out to the world creating revenues and jobs and promoting culture.  He said the entertainment sector was a brand ambassador for the government and it strengthened our culture and was taking it to the world.

Col. Rathore also said India was poised to be an important world power in the media industry.  This however, would need a lot of hard work.  Saying the industry has  the ability to reach out to the whole world, he also pointed out that we have a large audience to see what we put out there.  In addition, we have a large diaspora in the middle east, Africa and the US and  with the entertainment, field we can have the ability to reach out to others and get a foothold in any nation we want he pointed out.

The Minister said the government has been trying to improve all the media units and is thinking of revising the cinematography Act and make film certification content based, in the light of Justice Mudgal Committee Report.

The Minister also invited the industry to enable the government to remove bottle necks and iron out the various issues affecting them.  Col Rathore also spoke about the rolling out of the 3rd phase of FM and reaching 315 cities soon and upto 800 to 900 cities with FM soon after that.

Concluding the Minister said the media and entertainment industry had the ability to reach out to not just every Indian citizen but every world citizen and effect their hearts. The Minister also answered various questions affecting the industry and interacted with the audience in a question-answer session.
