Largest Congregation of Over 20 Countries to Meet the Indian Film Industry at IIFTC 2017

India is the world’s largest film industry producing nearly 2000 films annually. Significant number of these films are shot abroad in over 55 countries thereby positively contributing to the tourism industry. With an objective to facilitate and encourage the concept of ‘film tourism’ , India International Film Tourism Conclave (IIFTC) brings together India’s biggest production houses under one roof, thereby offering an exciting opportunity for foreign tourism boards, film commissions & production services companies to showcase their locations and present their offerings.

Winner of the ‘Best Business Event of the Year’ at WOW Awards Asia, IIFTC is Asia’s largest Locations Show. In its 5th edition of IIFTC will be a 3-day extravaganza to be held in Mumbai from 23rd to 25th February at Hotel J W Marriott, Juhu. IIFTC 2017, supported by the Film Federation of India and partnered by Kenya Tourism Board, will comprise of 3 focussed business events including a Grand Opening Gala & Awards, All India Round Table Conference and annual IIFTC Conclave and Locations market.

Living by its motto of “Discover Countries, Scout Locations and Establish Connects” the event will witness the largest ever congregation of international delegations from over 20 countries coming to meet the Indian film industry. Some of the countries represented include Portugal, Abu Dhabi, Spain, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Finland, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Jordan, Cyprus, Sweden and South Africa with Kenya being the Partner Country of the convention.

In another novel initiative, IIFTC has instituted IIFTC Tourism Impact Award to felicitate noted film makers for their contribution to tourism. Speaking about this new initiative Harshad Bhagwat, Founder & Director – IIFTC said, “In our 5th edition, we feel the necessity to extend our canvas and institute an award which recognises the successful convergence of film and tourism industry, which is the fulcrum of IIFTC. The core of this felicitation ceremony is to celebrate the filmmakers, whose cinema has contributed to the tourism of the countries where they have shot.”

IIFTC 2017 is expected to be visited by 100 biggest production house from Bollywood and regional film industries including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali cinema with some notable names such as Yashraj Films, Dharma Productions, Excel Entertainment, Red Chilies Entertainment, Salman Khan Films, Arka Mediaworks (Telugu), V Creations (Tamil), Venkatesh Films (Bengali) to name  a few.
