Sajid Nadiadwala’s latest Housefull 2 that released worldwide yesterday, had distributors jumping for joy as the film took an unprecedented opening, with the first day figures amounting to an approximate 14.25 cr.
Says Komal Nahata “The opening day all-India net collection of Rs. 14 crore is noteworthy. This makes the opening of Housefull 2 the second best this year. Had they released the film on Thursday on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, the weekend figure would have increased on the strength of North India where a holiday is observed. But all said and done, the trade is jubilant. Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan have done it! “

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and distributed by Eros International, the movie was released in 3,000 screens on Friday.
According to multiplex officials, the multi-starrer registered an average occupancy of 85 to 90 % making it one of the highest openings of 2012.The masala entertainer directed by Sajid Khan featuring an ensemble starcast garnered an impressive first day figure despite the on going I P L season.
As per official records Housefull 2 was off to a fabulous start from its morning show onwards ,occupancy nearing 80-90% with noon and evening shows being consistent.The film did its best business in North India,Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan and CI where collections were 80% while Mumbai city, Maharashtra and South touched the 70% mark.
If that wasn’t all, the film was also off to a good start overseas collecting 5.5cr over Thursday and Friday, U.k(fri) £ 112, 075,Australia Fri: A$ 73,143, New Zealand fri NZ$ 34,604, U.A.E. Thu: AED 725,000.Also making this Akshay Kumar’s biggest opening in Dubai,surpassing his De Dhana Dan figures(Eid release).
