The remake fever has gripped the tinsel towns of Hollywood and Bollywood. Every popular film is being remade and even the audience seems to have gotten a taste for it. In Bollywood there are films like Devdas, Agneepath, Don, Zanjeer etc. which have been a massive it – be it the original version or its remake.

Working on the similar lines is Hollywood which has also been able to produce many such remakes of its classic hits. The list not only has Spider-man to top the chart but films like The great train robbery, Ocean’s eleven etc. have been remade.

Hollywood brings yet another reboot of Sony Pictures “Total Recall”, the original version of which was released in 1990.The remake of Total Recall releases worldwide on 3rd August. Though even this film is based on the same short story “We can remember it for you wholesale” yet this film is said to be different from the original version.

1990’s version had Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead and the reboot will have Colin Farrell in the lead. The character of two tough women Lori and Melina in the original was played by Sharon Stone and Rachel Ticotin respectively. In this one Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel will take the lead alongside Colin. The original was directed by Paul Verhoeven and this one is directed by Len Wiseman.

The original version of Total Recall created massive fan following amongst the audience. The sci-fi action thriller won for itself Special Academy award for Visual effects.

Will the reboot create a place in the heart of the audience like the original did? Is this sci-fi action thriller likely to create history as well? Will the remake fever gain more credence with this new entry?
