High Street Phoenix hosted 8th edition of Baqar Nasser’s SPINNATHON on 12th January

This 12th  of January 2014 saw Mumbai’s popular destination centre High Street Phoenix host the 8th edition of the super successful annual property titled Baqar Nasser’s SPINNATHON from 6 to 10 pm at the Courtyard of the mall. The glittering night saw celebrities like Madhuri Dixit, Suneil Shetty, Anjana Sukhani, Haroon Kazi (villain in the upcoming Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho) and the cast of Yaariyan (Himansh Kohli, Rakul Preet, Nicole Faria, Dev Sharma &  Shreyas Pardiwalla).

Initiated in 2005 and now in its 8th year, Baqar Nasser’s SPINNATHON is one of the biggest global platforms for cardio. It is Asia’s Largest Indoor Cycling Competition organized every year for a noble cause where top 50 fitness enthusiasts selected from over 7000 topspin members competed for the 4 feet tall trophy weighing 24 kgs. This year the event was being organized for the cause of education of youngsters undergoing financial strain, as supported by H.R. College.

As a brand High Street Phoenix is known to support a plethora of social causes year after year. Speaking on this association, Mr. Rajendra Kalkar, Senior Centre Director, High Street Phoenix opined, “We wish to encourage Mumbaikars to begin the New Year on a healthy note which has led us to hosting this event. High Street Phoenix has in the past, been the platform for many a socially relevant initiative and this one just adds to that impressive roster. Street plays, flash mobs, art displays, exhibitions, fairs and special performances have all gone a long way in helping High Street Phoenix become the socially responsible entity that it aims to be.”

This year the winner of Baqar Nasser’s SPINNATHON will get an all expense paid trip to Switzerland where the winner will be flown in Jets, given 7-star accommodation and driven around in Bentleys. 14 winners will receive eye-wear from Oakley along with a Brass trophy of an actual rider on a topspin cycle. All 50 contestants will receive goody bags with souvenir T-shirts with individual names engraved along with a gift voucher from French Connection.


This year, the event witnessed performances by noted percussionist Jonqui, singer Sukanya Ghosh and a special video presentation of DJ Suketu’s latest collection of chartbusters. In the past, the event has been attended by distinguished guests like Neil Nitin Mukesh, Suniel Shetty, Ritesh Deshmukh, Milind Soman, Bipaha Basu, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre among many others who have lent their support to this unique concept and a noble cause initiated by fitness guru Baqar Nasser.
