‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ on 10th January

Mumbai, 10 January 2013: As film lovers of the nouveau-noir genre await the release of maverick filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest offering Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, High Street Phoenix tied up with the movie to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. The destination centre organized a day of kite flying for their patrons on 10th January 2013 where Asif Khan & his coterie of professionals from Bandra’s famous ‘Standard Kites’ taught enthusiastic shoppers the art of kite making & kite flying. And taking a cue from the rustic esoteric feel of the movie, this destination centre gave 3 lucky patrons a golden chance to meet the starcast of the movie (Imran Khan & Anushka Sharma) & test their kite flying skills thanks to an innovative Facebook & Twitter contest by High Street Phoenix

From 5th January to 8th January fans came up with their own innovative name made out of a cocktail of names and surnames ala Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola to participate in this contest. Sample this: Banwari Ki Rajjo Ka Daruwala. These entries were then posted on the Facebook page of http:// www.facebook.com/highstreetphoenix?fref=ts tagging
www.facebook.com/matrubijleemandola.
Responses were also tweeted tagging @mbmthefilm & @gophoenixing. The third option was to email the responses to gophoenixing@highstreetphoenix.com with the person’s ‘Name’, ‘Location’ & ‘Your MBM Name’. 50 of the top entries won movie tickets and 3 of the funniest participants also got to fly kites with the cast & crew of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola on 10th January.

Hailing from Lucknow, Asif Khan & his ‘Standard Kites’ belong to a 200 year old illustrious family of kite makers. A legacy handed down from generations, their kites come specially from Lucknow, Delhi & Bareily & are regularly sent for movie shootings. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam being one of Asif Khan’s fondest memories. With a history of over 40 years in Mumbai, Asif Khan’s kites get sold even in the distant lands of Dubai, South Africa & others.

This was a day when Mumbaikars put their craziest thinking caps on, coming up with some wild concoctions that tickled everyone’s funnybones while matching strings with Bollywood’s biggies!
