Hema Malini opened JIFF-2013 Jaipur
The event who earned international fame for jaipur, Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) has inaugurated today at Golcha cinema.
Famous bollywood actress Hema Malini announced the opening of this five days celebration by lighting the lamp. Prem Chopra, Hema Malini and Oscar winning director Mark Bashit has honoured the famous actress of her time Sharmila Tagore by lifetime achievement award.Sharmila Tagore said that “I am heartily thankful to jaipur that they had invited me here for the award.
The pink city is famous for its culture and hospitability. It has gained fame around the globe so, I am feeling overwhelmed to be here”. She added that jaipur as well as whole Rajasthan has a very strong bonding with cinema. The forts, palaces and sand dunes are always been a grandeurs of the Indian cinema. “I congratulate all of you on this occasion and especially to the young film makers for their efforts of making cinema apart main stream.
In the opening ceremony, Hema Malini has also expressed her thanks for the invitation in jiff and also gives wishes for the success of the festival.
JIFF director hanuroz told that it’s not to be proud but it is a grand thing in itself that starting from just one theatre, JIFF has now reached to a platform of screening films at 11 screens at 8 different places in its fifth year. JIFF has also gained the honor of counting amongst the other famous international film festivals. This year more than 1400 films from 90 countries registered for JIFF, amongst them 217 have been selected. One more thing to be focused here is that film makers of about 180 films will also be present in the city during the festival.
Some popular names in the cine world like film analyst Komal Nahta, Jaiprakash Chowksey, Arun Dutt, and B.B Nagpal will also be here for different seminars and workshops. Including Prem Chopra, Arun Dutt and Jaiprakash Chowksey, all the jury members are greeted in the ceremony.
The opening film this year will be “life goes on”. It is a story about a modern Indian Bengali Doctors family, set in today’s London. The main characters include Sanjay, who rediscover lives of his daughters after the sudden death of his wife; Manju.Sanjay faces new challenges & crisis with modern lives of his daughters, especially with the youngest daughter, Dia who is in love with a Muslim boy. This declaration of his daughter made him to recollect his childhood & trauma of hindu-muslim riots during Bengal partition. Here the viewers can get the shadow of Shakespeare’s famous play “King Lear”. The lead actors are Sharmila Tagore and Om Puri.
