Harper’s BAZAAR, the world’s oldest fashion magazine with 27 international editions, has successfully completed three years in India. The Third Anniversary issue of BAZAAR is truly a GRAND Issue. In its special tall format, this issue will tell readers all about how to live life like a GRANDISTA – from the places to shop and what to wear for the season, to how to live in style and the best places to holiday! Other highlights include the Personal Style of Tejuswini Chowdhury and Poorna Patel, daughters of politicos Renuka Chowdhury and Praful Patel respectively; beauty secrets of India’s sweetheart and superstar Madhuri Dixit; a tete-a-tete with directors Karan Johar and Ashutosh Gowarikar; the best way to get the perfect midriff; as well as a revelation by designer Tarun Tahilani on how to live the Grand life, without seeming to try too hard.

This special anniversary issue brings you the GRANDE FEMME of Hindi cinema, VIDYA BALAN on the cover of the magazine. In looks you have never seen her in before—from red-carpet glam, to rock chic, to androgyny, she won’t stop surprising you. BAZAAR has given Vidya an incredible fashion revamp and she carries each look with true élan. The magazine also features a DESIGNER SHOOT with 16 leading Indian fashion designers raising a toast to their fashion anniversaries, and BAZAAR’s THIRD birthday.

Vidya Balan was delighted to shoot for the BAZAAR cover. And while she wishes she could have done the shoot in a sari, she’s happy with the experimentation and the fact that she’s sporting a look that is so different from her everyday appearances. She’s happy with the way the BAZAAR team has captured a different side of her, and is pleasantly surprised by the result as well. When asked to share her thoughts on how she felt shooting with BAZAAR, Vidya said “I enjoyed the shoot—we had this fantastic makeup artist, Christopher Koller, and hair stylist Gabriel. They had no idea that I wear Indian outfits all the time, so they experimented, and I went with the flow. What we ended up with was a great shoot. I’ve shot for pictures that are so not me, and yet, at a very deep level it is me, because I love trying out new things.”

Harper’s BAZAAR India has created a loyal following among readers in India through its well-researched and artistically laid out articles on fashion, lifestyle, celebrities, and of course personal style! Having successfully found the right balance between India-inspired content, features, and visual appeal, the magazine has steadily grown to become one of the most-loved fashion magazines in the country.

Sharing her insights on the first anniversary of the magazine in India, Mala Sekhri, Chief Operating Officer, Lifestyle Group, India Today Group said, “It has been a significant journey for us. We strive to grow the magazine to fulfill its global vision to become the ultimate style guide for each and every sophisticated and elegant woman in India.”

Sujata Assomull Sippy, Editor, Harper’s BAZAAR India said, “This is truly a Grand Issue, be it the size, or the content. We have the grand femme of Bollywood on the cover, looking like nothing you have ever seen. Full of style and substance, this is an issue you should not miss.”
