Godrej Eon Tour De India 2013- the biggest cycling event of the world began its second edition today with it’s first race in Mumbai with Brand Ambassador John Abraham, the Heartless Team –
Mr. Shekhar Suman & Mr. Adhyayan Suman along with political leaders – Mr. Chaggan Bhujbal, Mr. Narayan Rane & corporate personalities.
Godrej Eon Tour De India 2013 in association with Avon Cycles, a franchise of Tour De France, is the biggest cycling event. This multi-city event began it’s tour in Mumbai today and will proceed to Jaipur and Delhi on December 17th and 22nd respectively, this year. Promoted by ID Sports, Cycling Federation of India and UCI and marketed by Total Sports Asia, the cycling event will culminate in Delhi NCR in Buddh International Circuit. The event is well on track for its biggest year yet. Entry levels are on set to surpass last year’s figures and organizers are looking forward to welcoming more cyclists than ever before. As of November, the entry figure for the Cyclothon is 22,000 plus cyclists, including the 100 plus cyclists expected from overseas. This year will be far more exciting where the cyclists will be gunning to break the record of covering 160 kms within 180 mins, ensuring the race for the finish will be a close and exciting one. Empowering the cause of ‘You are the Engine-Find the Champion in you’ the cycling carnival will witness participation from Elite cyclists, specially able people, children and masses along with the masses from all walks of life.
The ‘HEARTLESS’ team – Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman flagged off the race and interacted with the cyclists and media on the benefits of fitness and cycling for a healthy heart.
Shekhar Suman says ” I am a bit of a fitness freak myself and out door cycling is one of my favourite activities. It’s not just physically energising it’s also mentally relaxing . As had always witnessed the Tour de France on television but to see it live and that too in India is an unbelievable experience. kudos to Mr Akil Khan for his great endeavour of bringing the franchise of the largest cycling event into India. It gave me immense pleasure to flag off this prestigious race and I’m thrilled to see the nation starting to pedal itz way to good health. It was an heartening experience ,and was fun to be there integrating my film which talks about the good heart.
Adhyayan Suman echoed the same sentiments as he said, “Fitness is something I take very seriously and nothing is better than cycling to keep your self hail and hearty. It is an honour to be a part of such a prestigious event and I would like to thank Tour De India for it. I’m happy to see the huge turnout at the event, especially the young kids who are all ready to take up this difficult challenge. I wish Tour De India all the very best and I hope to participate in it one day.”
