Mumbai: After the global premiere of ‘Music Teacher’ at the recently held Chicago Asian Film Festival, Yoodlee Films’ next ‘Hamid’ has now been officially selected to have its grand world premiere at the soon-to-be-held Jio MAMI 20th Mumbai Film Festival which kick-starts from October 25th.

‘Hamid’ directed by Aijaz Khan is a sensitive portrayal of the fragility of the human condition in the conflict-ridden topography of Kashmir. An eight year old Hamid is in search of his missing father, who his mother says has gone to Allah. The number 786, Hamid learns, is God’s number and he decides to try and reach out to Him. Using his father’s old mobile phone, after various combinations, he finally manages to connect to Abhay, a hard-knuckled CRPF Jawaan, who he believes, is the God he is looking for. Hamid and Abhay – torn apart by politics and bound by a sense of loss,  unknowingly and unintentionally, find a way to complete each other’s life, against the rampant violence in Kashmir.

Says director Aijaz Khan, whose debut film The White Elephant had also premiered at the prestigious International Film Festival of India :  “How exciting it is for Hamid to be premiering at the Jio MAMI 20th Mumbai Film Festival. In a time and age that is ravaged by politics of hatred, Hamid is a story of finding strength in the most simple of friendships and in the most innocent of beliefs. I am thrilled that film aficionados from all over will get a chance to see my labour of love in MAMI.”

Siddharth Anand Kumar, VP, TV and Films, Saregama India, of which Yoodlee Films is a part of says, “ Hamid is the second film from Yoodlee Films , after the critically acclaimed drama Ajji from 2017 – which will have its world premiere in the prestigious MAMI Mumbai Film festival.  Hamid essentially is a film on the search for hope and solace through the lives of two dramatically displaced individuals. The fact that this is juxtaposed against the complicated geographical ramifications of Kashmir, makes for a sensitive and gripping tale. Yoodlee Films proudly takes the baton of Fearless Filmmaking forward with this one.”
