Gaurav Makkar Triathalon Coach is an established name in the world of endurance triathletes. Having participated in numerous events across the globe, and made a prestigious position for him in the arena of endurance sports, he is now helping upcoming athletes by mentoring and coaching. His goal is to create a trend with Indian athletes who can perform internationally and make the country proud.
Gaurav’s tryst with endurance sports started over a casual conversation with a friend about the Ironman race, and that was enough for him to go back home, pull out all the research and put on his trainers. The Ironman race is one of the most grueling sporting events in the world, which tests one’s body and mind. He started as a fitness instructor and then ventured into long distance running and later on an Ironman. He set out his targets and began a training program that moulded his body and mind into what they say, Ironman are made of – passion, endurance, determination and an exhilarating desire to always push the boundary.
Ultraman Hawaii is a three-day athletic endeavor guaranteed to test an athlete’s physical and mental limits. It is a journey that will touch your soul and create memories that will last a lifetime. The race covers a total distance of 320 miles (515 kilometers) on the big Island of Hawaii, it requires that each participant completes a 6.2 mile (10 K) open water swim, a 263 mile (423 K) bike ride, and a 52.4 mile (84 K) ultra-marathon run. Day 1 is a 6.2-mile swim and 92-mile bike, Day 2 is a 171-mile bike, and Day 3 is a 52.4-mile run.
Ultraman enthusiasts are a special breed indeed and Gaurav, who is the only one representing India, completed the race of 10 km ocean swim and 144 km bike ride on the first day in 10 hours and 2 minutes. On the second day, he completed the 275 km bike ride in 10 hours and 43 minutes. He wrapped up the race on Day 3 with an 82 km run, which he finished in 8 hours and 56 minutes.
Passionate about sports from his childhood, Makkar is now helping the upcoming athlete by mentoring and guiding them through their path. His goal is to create a trend with Indian athletes so that they can perform internationally and make our country proud.

Talking about his journey Makkar said “My journey to clinch this title was not easy .People are running around and losing themselves in their busy routines, but traithlon training has helped strike a balance and understand life better. It has also helped me discover who I am and what I am capable of. The Ultraman Florida meant a lot to me and when I bagged this title I was very excited”.
“Having started from the scratch offered me a grounded and holistic understanding of what it takes to nurture each individual’s progression to achieve his or her own goals” he added.
 
Gaurav Makkar a hardcore fitness enthusiast from Gurgaon took his enthusiasm to another level, by successfully completing the Ultraman Hawaii World championship one of the toughest endurance challenge races in the world, in 29 hours 53 minutes and 12 seconds.
