French filmmaker Maiwenn Besco to make a movie on Vikas Khanna’s book Utsav
Michelin Star chef Vikas Khanna’s cookbook Utsav – A Culinary epic of Indian festivals was unveiled at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival. The book based on cuisines for festivals and rituals for Indian communities was widely appreciated by dignitaries and filmmakers across the globe. And if things go according to the plan, Utsav might soon be adapted into a film.
It’s learnt that the popular French filmmaker and actress Maiwenn Besco who showcased her French film Mon Roi (My King) at Cannes this year was quite fascinated by Vikas’s book to the extent that she expressed her wish to make a film on the same in India.
A source informs, “After the book launch, Maiwenn introduced herself to Vikas and congratulated him for coming up with such a detailed version of the Indian cuisine. The filmmaker was quite enamoured by the book and also discussed with Vikas the prospect of adapting the book into a film.”
Vikas took 12 years to complete the book and wants to deliver it to the world’s top 12 leaders, starting with India’s PM Narendra Modi. The popular Chef is currently traveling and wants to first finish handing out the books, before thinking about the film.
Vikas confirms, “Yes, Maiwenn and I spoke about the book in detail. She liked the concept of the book and said that it could be taken on to the next level. But nothing has been finalised yet, as I’m busy travelling, and taking the book to different cities of the world.”
