FM inaugurates Punjab National Bank’s new corporate centre at Bandra-Kurla Complex

Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, as part of his day long engagements in Mumbai, inaugurated the newly constructed Punjab National Bank Corporate Centre, at the Bandra-Kurla Complex. Finance Minister also addressed a gathering of some of the important customers of the bank.
Aptly named, PNB Pragati Tower, the new corporate centre houses the New Delhi headquartered  bank’s Mumbai Circle Office. It also houses the specialized branches dealing with stressed assets and retail loans. A new general banking branch equipped with 24×7 self service area has also been started at the same premises.
BKC emerging as new financial hub
Bandra Kurla Complex, conceived by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, MMRDA, as an alternative growth centre has become a preferred destination for banks and financial institutions to base their head offices or Mumbai operations. G Block has become the hub of banking activity.  ICICI Bank, NABARD, Citi Bank, Standard Chartered, Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank, Bank of India, UTI, SEBI, IL&FS and SIDBI are some of the prominent financial institutions present at BKC.
