FICCI Announces the 14th Edition of Higher Education Summit 2018
The 14th edition of FICCI Higher Education Summit 2018 will be held on 30th October -1stNovember 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Higher education system around the world are being impacted by the exponential technologies like AI, Virtual & Augmented Reality, Block Chain etc. which are not just changing the teaching-learning methodologies, but is also redefining the role of educators and the very concept of brick and mortar universities and their organizational framework. Personalized &lifelong learning anywhere anytime will be the need in the future and therefore open and virtual universities would co–exist with traditional universities.
Over the years FICCI Higher Education Summit has been an apt platform for deliberations upon key challenges pertaining to Higher Education and it has also given perspective to Government, Industry, Higher Education Institutions other stakeholders to proactively develop approaches to adapt and manage the change effectively.
Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Government of India & Mr. Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister for Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India , Mr. R Subrahmanyam, Secretary – HE, MHRD , Government of India,DrAnupWadhawan, Secretary , MOCI , Government of India ,MrSudhanshuPandey, Additional Secretary, MocI , Dr. N. Saravana Kumar, Joint Secretary (ICC & TEL), MHRD& MrRashesh Shah, President, FICCI and Dr. VidyaYeravdekar, Chairperson FICCI HES, Pro Chancellor , Symbiosis International University , are among key dignitaries who are expected to be present at the summit.
The theme of summit is “Universities of the Future”. The high-power panels during the conference will be deliberating upon ongoing rapid technological disruption, India’s higher education readiness to meet the challenges, policy, roadmaps to facilitate the change in 21st century and other topical issues in Higher Education. There would be parallel sessions on topics such as Blended Learning, How can Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics help in Decision Making Processes, University 4.0 and beyond, University as a Gateway to Knowledge, among others.
The summit will be an ideal platform to tap the global market and network across the continent with educators, higher educational institutions, service providers and technology companies etc. The inaugural session will witness the presence of more than 1200 national and international delegates. The exhibition will be expecting more than 150 exhibitors from top of the line Institutions showcasing their best practices to the global participants and will explore collaborations.
The summit is supported by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Services Export Promotion Council and All India Council for Technical Education.
Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM) and B2B Meetings with delegates from over 300 international stakeholders, including Finland, USA, Turkey, Singapore, UK, European Union, Africa, Middle East and SAARC, etc. are expected to participate in the event.
Dr. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor NMIMS said, “Technology has today changed the learner profile. Today’s student is a global learner who has access to resources all over the world on his mobile platform. It is a reality that rapidly changing technologies in many different fields have changed the way we need to measure some aspects of creating “new global citizens” who will have to learn the art of living with intervention of robots and cobots.
Speaking on the eve of HES 2018 Ms.Shobha Mishra Ghosh Assistant Secretary General, FICCI said , “We must train today’s learners and enable them to find resources of courage, resilience and empathy that traverse national boundaries. In today’s changing scenario, students will continue to need the university ecosystem for holistic development, and the programs to will have to be tailored for individual students catering to life time learning.”
