Endurance Runner Sumedha Mahajan Breaks Yet Another Record!
She was the only woman to have completed the 1500 km run and now she is back with another record breaking performance. Sumedha ran the 24 hour run held in Gurgaon earlier this month and set a new national record by completing 151 kilometers. Her 1500 km long run was a milestone performance and her name was added to the Limca Book of Records for being the only woman with 5 men who completed the 1500 km run from Delhi to Mumbai within a span of 30 days.
Mahajan also stood 1st in the 2011 Bangalore Ultra Marathon of over 75 kms, 15th in the 2011 Mumbai Marathon and 6th in the Borneo Marathon in Malaysia. On being asked about her experience, she said, “It was an overwhelming experience. I set a 100 mile goal and got pretty close to it! I hope to do a lot more in 2013”.
This Amritsari girl plans on doing more on running nationally and internationally in the future. She is a huge lawn tennis fan and was a lawn tennis player before she became a self-trained runner.
