Based on Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay's novel of the same name, Eagoler Chokh will see Inspector Saswata Chatterjee and Subhrajit Dutta reprising the roles of Inspector Shabor Dasgupta and his assistant Nanda respectively. Together, they get down deciphering the ghastly murder of a young woman named Nandini. As they go deep into the murky details of the case, Dasgupta ends up discovering the darkest side of human psychology and in turn solving the complexities of his own Director Arindam Sil explained, “I have always been intrigued by the deep intricacies of human mind and how they shape up a person. The facade we create for the external world is often contradictory to what we actually are. For me, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay's Eagoler Chokh is one such book which has actually reflected upon the complex human psychology through its narrative and most importantly through characters, which are anything but ordinary beings. After Ebar Shobor received brilliant response from both the critics and audience, I decided to explore the Shabor series in depth.

Shabor Dasgupta is unlike any other iconic Bengali detective; he is a mystery himself which needs to be solved.

The first film of Shabor series generated much interest adding one more iconic sleuth in the list of thriller loving Bengali audience. Mahendra Soni, Director, Shree Venkatesh Films said, “Bengalis have grown up reading Feluda, Byomkesh, Kiriti, Kakababu. However, Shabor Dasgupta series by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay still remains somewhat unexplored. With massive success of the first Shabor movie, it is evident that Bengali audiences have much needed appetite for thriller and action, more importantly for literature based rich content over anything else. And Eagoler Chokh promises to bring all that and more. ”
