Day I @ Wassup! Andheri: Setting the stage for a roaring weekend!
The suburb’s very own culture fest kicks off second edition with headliners Abhishek Bachchan, Adhuna Akhtar and Amish Tripathi and several others
Day I was a field trip for Bibliophiles too, as they participated first in a panel discussion on ‘Writing for the Women of Today’ (aptly chaired by noted authors Madhuri Banerjee, Pia Heikkila and Milan Vohra, India’s first Mills & Boons author). In fact, it was Vohra’s second event, launch of her second book Tic-Toc We’re 30 that got the audience abuzz. It wasn’t an all-female cast though, for Amish Tripathi of the Immortals of Meluha fame too commanded attention in his talk about his new book, The Oath of the Vayuputras: Shiva Trilogy 3. Surely the literary bar was set for the fest to come.
The Terrific Thursday at Wassup Andheri also packed in a film screening (the charming Harishchandra chi Factory), a self-defence workshop by Bombay Judo Club as also a foot-tapping tribute to Michael Jackson by Russell Baptista.
It was however, the presence of the charming star Abhishek Bachchan that sent the energies on tilt mode. Looking suave and smiling as ever, Junior B won hearts in the little time he spent on stage as he grooved to some music with Earl Aka Url .
He wasn’t the only Bollywood representative though, Adhuna Akhtar, the glam half of film maker Farhan set fashion quotients soaring with her troupe of hairdressers from B:Blunt, aptly dubbed Warrior Women. That said, it wasn’t without doses of laughter from stand-up men Abish Mathew, Sapan Verma and Atul Khatri in two separate gigs that the action-packed day wound up.
