Culture Machine, leading digital video entertainment company has launched an all new series featuring columnist and a writer Rukun Kaul as a part of the Blush Verdicts segment with a rib cracking episode on Brazilian wax and its propagators. Airing on Blush, the leading lifestyle channel for women, the witty series will feature loads of sarcasm and urbane humour for the 20 something men and women. A new episode will go live every fifteen days.
Blush Verdicts is of, for and by the empowered Indian women who not only juggle, deal and avoid the social trappings of the 21st century but also foster a sense of sisterhood amongst themselves. Writer and columnist Rukun will explore the different facets of being a woman in India from the good, bad and in this case – the hairy too!
Talking about the series, Rukun Kaul said,“ Women everywhere need to deal with a lot of crap on account of being born with a vagina; from getting paid lower salaries to sexual harassment to being conditioned to whiten their under arms. There’s really no end to female subjugation in this country. With Blush Verdicts, the Blush team and I wanted to create a space where women could say whatever they want, sans the societal bias and stereotype“.
Rukun who has been lamenting about the status-quo of women ever since her friend in grade six told her that she shouldn’t swear because she was a “girl.” By the time she was 18, she was using words like hegemony and heteronormativity to feel cool and to identify herself as a full blown radical feminist. She loves everything that makes her sound smart.
