‘Days of Gold & Sepia’
Crossword – India’s leading lifestyle bookstore, hosted the launch of Yasmeen Premjee’s book ‘Days of Gold & Sepia’ today. Formerly functioning as an assistant editor for leading interior magazines, this is Yasmeen Premji’s first book. Present with the author at Crossword’s Kemps Corner outlet, was noted actress and social activist Shabana Azmi.
Published by HarperCollins India, the fiction book, ‘Days of Gold & Sepia’ is a story of Lalljee Lakha, a penniless orphan raised in Kutch and his journey to becoming Bombay’s ‘Cotton King’. The book paints the portrait of a man of courage and character, the discovery of life, the pain of a passionate and doomed love and family feuds, of great personal integrity and human frailty. Set against the eventful period between India’s War for Independence in 1857 and the fledgling freedom struggle of the early twentieth century, this sweeping tale is peopled by a vibrant array of characters – merchant princes and maharajas, courtesans and soothsayers, pirates, freedom fighters and soldiers of the British Raj.
Mr. Kinjal Shah, COO, Crossword Bookstores said, “The book characterizes some critical times in India’s independence period and underlines the struggles of its indigenous people with great expression and narration. I am pleased to launch Yasmeen Premji’s first novel on the Crossword platform and look forward to many more releases. We wish her all the best.”
‘Days of Gold & Sepia’ is available at all Crossword outlets.
