Corporate India’s presence at the Oscars

Anil Ambani attends Academy Awards with his DreamWorks Studios’ partners Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider. ·        DreamWorks’ productions The Help, War Horse, and Real Steel represented in 11 nomination categories. ·        Octavia Spencer wins Best Supporting Actress award for role in The Help.

Reliance DreamWorks takes great pride in Octavia Spencer’s achievement in winning the Best Supporting Actress category award for her performance in ‘The Help’, at the 84th Academy Awards ceremony held on February 27 2011.

Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance, attended the glittering event at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles along with his partners at Dream Works Studios, Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider.  Mr. Ambani owns a 51 percent stake at Dream Works Studios.

Three movies from Dream Works Studios – The Help, War Horse and Real Steel – were nominated across 11 categories for this years Oscars; making it the first time for an Indian owned movie company to be represented at the Oscar in such a big way.

 

‘The Help’ directed by debutant director Tate Taylor was nominated across four categories including Best Picture (Brunson Green, Chris Columbus and Michael Barnathan- Producers), Actress in Leading Role (Viola Davis), Actress in Supporting Role (Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain)
