Hand Cut, Hand Crafted, Hand Stitched: A series of luxurious Artisanal Soirees

Chivas 18 premium Scotch whisky and bespoke designer Ashish N Soni in conjunction with the newly launched luxury property The St. Regis Mumbai presented the concept of artisanal soirees titled ‘Crafted for Gentlemen’. The evening was cohosted by Mr. Atul Kasbekar and Mr. Anuraag Bhatnagar, Area General Manager at The St Regis Mumbai. The evening was aimed to highlight the art of bespoke tailoring and its nuances as they are manifested through Ashish N Soni’s tailoring studio. The series of artisanal soirées – ‘Chivas 18 Crafted for Gentlemen’ was successfully launched in Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore earlier.

Explaining the concept of the artisanal soiree, Ashish N Soni said, Crafted for Gentlemen is an in-depth collaboration with Chivas 18 that has been conceptualized collectively over the past few months and I’m extremely proud of the end product. Whether it’s a whisky or a bespoke suit, we really are speaking to the same audience; we are speaking to people who have reached a certain level of sophistication where they understand the things that are important to their lives and the things they want to spend time and money on. The purpose of this evening is to elucidate on the difference and conflict of Bespoke versus made to measure as well as to highlight the similarities in the skillful processes that are involved in crafting a well-blended whiskey or a well-fitting suit. Both arts require skills which are developed over time, matured and executed to perfection.”

 

To showcase this unique abstraction, Ashish N Soni and Chivas 18 screened a short film that highlighted the journey of bespoke services from when the concept was created to today. Accompanying this film was a well gestated installation of a fashion designers laboratory that showcased the creation of a bespoke suit and the services that comprise different components from its construction, assembly and even the various fabrics used at the Ashish N Soni artisanal studio.

The alliance with Chivas 18 is synchronous for this concept as the multi-layered blended whisky has been specially crafted for Gentlemen, similar to the presentation that Ashish N Soni has created.  Chivas 18 is a uniquely rich and multi-layered blend that includes over twenty of Scotland’s rarest single malt Scotch whiskies. Meticulously blended by Master Blender Colin Scott, Chivas 18 rewards the senses with 85 flavor notes in every drop. Each sip is a new discovery. Not only is it aesthetically beautiful but it’s modern, edgy and luxuriously complex.

The dinner was hosted at the gorgeous Astor Ballroom at The St. Regis Mumbai, South Mumbai’s newest uber luxury venue.

To add to the savor of the evening, the chefs of The St. Regis, Mumbai have personally orchestrated each and every preparation to present a specially crafted menu for the evening.
