Celebrating the Legends
This September Saregama UK concluded its eighth successful tour entitled Celebrating the Legends. Starring the ever-popular duo Roop Kumar Rathod and Sunali Rathod showcasing the vocal talents of Bollywood legends of yesteryear Mohd. Rafi, Talat Mahmood, Lata Mangeshkar and Noor Jehan. The tour took place in some of the most prestigious venues across the UK, Symphony Hall in Birmingham, De Montfort Hall in Leicester and the final show being held at the legendary Hammersmith Apollo, where some of the biggest names in music like the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Queen to mention a few have performed in the past. The couple enthralled the audiences with some of the most loved classic tunes from Bollywood like Lag Jaa Gale, Chaudhvin Ka Chaand, Chandini Raatein and Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki along with Roop’s Bollywood hits. Accompanied by eight of the finest musicians from India the group treated the audiences to a fantastic jugalbandi of sur, sangam and taal as well as Roop’s improvisation of the classic Parda Hai Parda from Amar Akbar Anthony that received a standing ovation. Also present at the show was The Right Honorable Keith Vaz MP, who presented the couple with a special memento to mark the occasion. Celebrating the Legends was a landmark tour that brought to life the works of our greatest musical legends. A true tribute to the greats!
