Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, Busan, IIFA and Oscar to be classified in JIFF-2013

Jaipur,  This year in Jaipur International Film Festival – JIFF – 2013 there will be special segments for the films nominated at the Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, Busan, and Oscars known to be the ‘Best World Cinema’ category.  Besides, these films will also remain in the category of films in which they are nominated for the award consideration in JIFF-2013 onwards.

In this manner along with Cannes-Berlin-Toronto, IIFA, the Oscar nominated films will also be there in a distinctive competition category and out of them the best film will be selected out.

It is a matter of fact that JIFF receives an immense numbers of films from these film festivals and out of them a good number of films even succeed in getting nominated in JIFF.  It is noteworthy that this year ‘A Road Home’ (nominated in Oscar) and Asghar Farhidi’s ‘A Separation’ (winning foreign language film Oscar) was also unanimously declared as the best film in the feature film category.

The decisions of JIFF jury are now highly considered and praised at a global level.  One of the concrete reasons for this appreciation is that within tenure of 4 years 5 National Film Awards has been won by the films in the same category as unanimously chosen by the jury members of JIFF.  Among these, 3 feature films were ‘I Want to Be a Mother’, ‘The Way Home’ and ‘I Am Kalam.’  Karna Mocham and Gaarud are the short films that have won the National Film Awards.

This unique journey has certainly rendered a new global identity to the jury members of JIFF as an act of providence.

Any of the filmmakers whose film has officially got selected to Cannes, IIFA, Oscar, Toronto or Berlin can also submit their films in JIFF.  All the festivals are known to be the most renowned among the historians and audiences of cinematic art.

The major objective behind putting all these efforts by JIFF is to select the best film out of a grand collection of great films.

The last date for submitting the films in JIFF 2013 will be 30th October 2012.  The festival will be conducted in the next year from 27th to 31st January.

In JIFF 2012 this year the participation of 70 countries (178 films were screened out of 917) took place from around the world.
