“Buniyaad made me Kiran Juneja Sippy from Kiran Juneja”, says Kiran Juneja Sippy

Kiran Juneja Sippy started her career in early 70’s with Weston TV as a model who later become the part of many successful projects. She was a part of the most successfully running TV serials on 1987’s Buniyaad in which she played the character of Veeravali. On the other hand she made her debut in Bollywood with K.S.R.Doss’s ‘Mulzim’ starring Jitendra and Hema Malini and Amrita Singh in 1988 which she played Jitendra’s elder sister. With this Kiran Juneja Sippy made a power packed entry in the industry with a good combination of small screen and big screen. It was during Buniyaad Kiran Juneja Sippy met Ramesh Sippy who was the director of the TV serial. As time passed the relationship between the duo started knowing each other more.

When asked Kiran Juneja Sippy about her first conversation with Ramesh ji on the sets of Buniyaad, she says,  “When Ramesh ji spoke to for the first time he asked me whether I could play the role of an old woman. He promised me that this role will create history and after the success of the renowned TV serial I was always offered the role of a mother. Initially I was in awkward situation being offered a role of a mother but the promise that Ramesh ji always motivated me and I was as strong as the Veeravali in Buniyaad.”

This classic TV serial is aired again these days on Doordarhsan every Thursdays and Fridays at 8.30 pm.
