BRITISH ACTRESS FERYNA WAZHEIR SIGNS TWO-MOVIE DEAL WITH iROCK

[London, 9th July]. The talented British-Asian actress Feryna Wazheir who stole audiences hearts in Raj Kanwar’s Sadiyaan today is set to return to the silver screen with news of a two-movie deal with the youth-focused cutting edge studio iRock films.

Full details of the films are yet to be released, but Siddhartha M Jain, CEO of iRock says: “Feryna has been cast in two iRock films and we will pitch her in fun, youth-centric and high concept edgy films, details for which we will be announcing soon.”

Siddhartha’s studio which has built its reputation on creating genre-specific, high concept films like Ragini MMS and the soon to be released Disco Valley is determined to forge ahead with a new style of  movies aimed directly at the youth market, which now represents India’s largest movie going audience.

Ms Wazheir, who has been described by the late great Yash Chopra as
“beauty, innocence and vulnerability” is now ready to embrace a new, more dynamic and daring image to fit in with the urban style of iRock’s
portfolio.

Commenting on her signing the chameleon actress said: “This is an exciting time for Indian movies and I believe that iRock’s style is going to allow me to show my versatility as an actress. I am as comfortable working on a serious independent film as well as a hip, happening and edgy movie! I’m happy that Siddhartha saw potential in me and has faith in me being able to deliver his vision.

Jain adds; “2013 is going to be a great year for Feryna and iRock together… I promise it will be worth the wait.

About Feryna Wazheir:he Scottish-born actress’s, theatrical creativity was evident from an early age, and made her stand out among her peers, winning her parts in amateur theatre. This quickly led to offers for commercials and short films and Feryna soon found herself performing in the acclaimed play ‘The Vagina Monologues’ by award-winning playwright Eve Ensler.

Whilst in India, Feryna was spotted by top photographer Farookh Chotia and this kick started her career, launching her with high profile shoots for Elle India, Seventeen and L’Officiel.  Inundated with offers there was no looking back.  She made numerous advertisements and commercials for Indian companies before turning back to theatre.

Feryna has since trained and worked under theatre stalwarts Alque Padamsee and Satyadev Dubey, as well as the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts [also known as RADA] in London.

Her Bollywood debut was made in ‘Sadiyaan’ a Raj Kanwar film on partition India, which boasted a star cast of Rekha, Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor and for which, Feryna was nominated for ‘Best Debut Performance’ for her role.Feryna also acted in Ketan Mehta’s yet to be released Rang Rasiya, which won the audience award at London Indian Film Festival in 2011.

Feryna is currently also the brand ambassador for London Indian Film Festival, which takes place from 18th – 25th July.
