No. 10: Preity Zinta in Kal Ho Naa Ho
Portrayed as an extrovert yet tame and docile character in the superhit blockbuster Kal Ho Na Ho, the lively and energetic Preity Zinta bags the 10th position for the most stylish on-screen Bollywood bride. Adorned in a bright and glittering Fuchsia pink Salwaar Kameez, the look is a perfect take- away for the typical Punjabi bride. Trouble-free, light-weight attire with minimal accessories – the look is perfect for this season.
No. 9: Priyanka Chopra in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi
Resetting a trend for would-be-brides, actress Priyanka Chopra appears well-clad in a red lehenga with a contrast blue velvet choli in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Standing at number nine, Piggy Chops brought out a unique style to the typical authentic bridal look. Young brides who love to experiment can try on this contrast which will surely stand out. My favorite contrasting set of colors are red and orange, pink and red, white and red, red and emerald green.
No. 8: Rani Mukherjee in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Known for her wide selection of traditional outfits and blending cultural ethnicity with newer trends, Rani Mukherjee takes on the 8th position as the most stylish on-screen Bollywood bride. For all those who love the traditional authentic red and maroon combination, Rani’s bridal look in the film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna is just the perfect look. Use her idea of minimal accessories, put on the fun element and try using different materials like silk, georgette or net with different kinds of embroidery like crystal work, diamond work or taar work to give a modern flavor to your outfit. For brides picking on a common lehenga colour, add more style by topping it up with contrasting jewellery. For instance, if you’re wearing a red lehenga, pair it up with gold and emeralds so that the colors stand out.
No. 7: Katrina Kaif in Namaste London
Popularly known for her chic western style, the dazzling actress Katrina Kaif stands at number 7 as the most stylish on-screen bride. Very unusual yet traditional, the actress looks absolutely stunning in a white off-shoulder full-length gown in the wedding scene in her movie Namaste London. Nowadays, coloured wedding gowns have become more distinct and visible in Christian weddings. Brides like to keep it simple yet stylish by opting for either white gowns or long gowns in different colours. With evolving change in fashion, we witness shades of beige and lemon yellow in Hollywood as well. The idea of having a common or similar dress for bridesmaids is very interesting and looks elegant as well.
No. 6: Preity Zinta in Veer Zara
Popularly known for her cheerful and happy-go-lucky on-screen character, the vivacious actress Preity Zinta dons the 5th position for the most stylish on-screen Bollywood bride. As the country went gaga over Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta’s love saga in Veer Zara, the beautiful bridal look donned by Preity Zinta in the movie became unforgettable. The style and outfit was unusual because of the white dupatta which had shades of purple on the border. Beautifully designed by Manish Malhotra, this attire brought with it a new trend of knee-length kurtis and long ghaghras.
No. 5: Yami Gautam in Vicky Donor
Punjab Di Kudi, more prominently recognized as the Fair and Lovely girl, the versatile actress Yami Gautam stands in 5th place as the most stylish on-screen bollywood bride with her phenomenal look in her debut film Vicky Donor. Her simple yet stylish look in a silk saree was fabulous. For all those young working women who like to keep it subtle and quiet, you should go for this look. It’s highly recommendable. A light and less glittery saree could also make a perfect wedding outfit.
No. 4: Katrina Kaif in Singh is King
The gorgeous lady of tinsel-town, Katrina Kaif bags the 4th position for her bridal look from the movie Singh is King. A perfect combination of traditional red and green color was definitely an appealing factor but what stood out from the usual was the distinct drape which gave her attire a different look.
No. 3: Deepika Padukone in Love Aaj Kal
Known for her bold yet glamorous appearance on–screen, one cannot forget Deepika Padukone’s beautiful bridal avatar in the movie Love Aaj Kal. A perfect combination of pale pink and silver, paired with simple make-up, added modern appeal which was the perfect look for her. It’s advisable to avoid make-up with similar colours and tones as the bridal outfit to break the monotony and add a little flavor to your overall look.
No. 2: Kangna Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu
Best remembered for her tantrum throwing avatar in the movie Fashion, the spunky and fun-loving actress took everyone by surprise with her peculiar traditional fashion style in the film Tanu Weds Manu. Her exuberant bridal outfit in emerald green color with tints of silver work was unusual yet stylish harmonizing with her chirpy and gutsy attitude. Young and zesty girls out there can probably use a similar look and also try out other bright colors like purple, lilac and blend it with silver work, tangerine, light or dark orange with gold work and other coral colours.
No. 1: Kareena Kapoor in 3 Idiots
Gorgeous actress Kareena Kapoor beats all and stands at Number 1 when it comes to fashion and style with a perfect blend of attitude and persona. Who can forget the beautiful woman dressed in
her bridal best while riding a scooter in the movie 3 Idiots? The full-sleeve anakarli outfit seen in the movie is the perfect attire for brides this winter. Offbeat yet stylish, the outfit is an attempt to break the usual monotony of adopting cap sleeves, half sleeves or off-shoulders for your bridal dress.
Brides in Delhi, if you are worried about the decreasing temperatures in the city and equally tensed about the bridal look, this is definitely the right choice for you.
