Badrinath and his Dulhania present martyred jawan’s widow a cheque in Jaipur
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were in Jaipur yesterday to promote their upcoming Holi (March 10) release, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, that is produced by Karan Johar and directed by Shashank Khaitan.
However that wasn’t the only purpose of their visit, or so says a source from the Border Safety Force, Rajasthan. It is said that Badrinath and his Dulhania also took the opportunity to meet the widow of Dharma Ram, a slain jawan from Barmer who died in a combat with terrorists in 2016.
The source added, “Actually, when filmmaker Karan Johar heard that Varun and Alia were interacting with Dharma’s widow, Teenu Devi, and some other relatives of the soldier, who was awarded the Shaurya Chakra, he sent a message to one of the senior members of his team, asking them to hand over a cheque to Varun and Alia to give Teenu Devi on his company’s behalf.”
The two actors were reportedly moved by the story of the young soldier and felt really honoured to be able to interact with his widow and other relatives. Eyewitnesses also added that there were some poignant moments when no words were spoken but the silences conveyed a lot.
