Arunaraje Patil awarded a FIRST WOMAN AWARD as a woman achiever by Govt. of India – Ministry of Women & Child Development.
#FirstLadies event will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, on 20th January, 2018 at 4:30 PM. Before the event, there will be a luncheon in their honour at Hotel Ashoka on the same date with with senior dignitaries.
This event is an initiative to recognize women who had the courage to tread an unusual path and succeeded in being the “Firsts” in their respective fields. WCD will be honoured with the esteemed presence of these ladies in this event.
On being asked as to how did she feel on being conferred with #FirstLadies Award she humbly acknowledged the honour bestowed as she felt “It’s great to be recognised for what was not easy – being the first woman technician in the Indian film industry. I have loved my work with a passion. I am happy that women are being recognised today in many fields. I believe nothing is impossible for them”. For me, I love challenges & ‘the sky is not the limit’!
Arunaraje Patil is a Writer, Editor, Award winning Film maker and a Producer. Her critically acclaimed feature films include Shaque, Gehrayee, Situm, Rihaee, Bhairavi, and Tum? with many of them having strong women centric themes.
Arunaraje has served on many juries including that of the National Film Awards. She has been a Landmark forum leader and has led transformational programmes for more than 10,000 (thousand) people.
Just six months back she launched her first book “Freedom My Story” a chronicle of a radical thinker and film-maker in a male dominated world, her struggles, her inspirations, the prejudices she had to deal with and, ultimately, the freedom her art offered. This is as much the story of one immensely inspiring life as it is an acute look into a young changing Nation.
Presently Arunaraje is busy directing a film in Marathi for Priyanka Chopra & Dr. Madhu Chopra’s Production House ‘Purple Pebble Pictures’ titled “FIREBRAND”.
