Amol Palekar inspires Anuj Sachdeva’s character in Love Shagun
We all know TV’s hottie Anuj Sachdeva, who has appeared in many popular soaps like Sabki Laadli Bebo, Phir Subah Hogi, Chhanchhan and Itti Si Khushi, will be seen playing the protagonist JD, in the forthcoming romantic comedy film – Love Shagun.
However, not many know that, Anuj’s point of reference to prepare for his role was none other than the veteran actor – Amol Palekar.
Interestingly, when JD’s role was offered to Anuj, he was asked to refer to Amol Palekar’s character from Basu Chatterjee’s classic film Choti Si Baat.
In the film, Palekar plays a simpleton and wears checkered shirts and pleated pants. He also has a tough time talking to women and ultimately when he meets the love of his life, he is not able to propose to her.
Anuj says, “I watched the film around 3 times to get the act right. I wanted the mannerisms and body language to be exactly like Amol Palekar’s.”
Anuj’s during his growing up years was a huge fan of Amol Palekar and Kamal Haasan and idolized them. He continues to draw inspiration from them even when he is an adult.
Anuj who happens to be a fan of Amol Palekar and his brand of cinema thoroughly enjoyed enacting JD.
Love Shagun is scheduled to release on 26 February 2016.
