Ajintha – The musical voyage begins…

Production Designer and Producer Nitin Chandrakant Desai launch the music of his directorial debut movie of 18thcentury

 

 The captivating music of this year’s much-awaited movie – Ajintha was launched at the Kohinoor Continental, Andheri. Debutant director Nitin Chandrakant Desai is all set to release Ajintha all over on May 11, 2012.

 

‘Ajintha’ is based on a true love story, told never before, between Major Robert Gill & a tribal banjara girl named Paro. The film reveals the untold truth, belief in Buddha and the pure love beyond all languages, barriers and cultures! ‘Ajintha’ is a musical, an adventure ride & a philosophy too, all clubbed into one by well-known Music Director Kaushal Inamdar.

 

“As an artist first and a director, this film is a salute to all those who had carved, coloured, created and then discovered these caves. I always wondered how these painting where created with such a fine colours. The movie will give justice to the hidden truth, the remaining half of the story…a fact that a Indian Maharashtrian tribal banjara girl named Paro was the ones who introduced the British officer the true philosophy behind the paintings, created colours from nature, became his inspiration and made him understand the preaching of Lord Buddha”, said Nitin Chandrakant Desai.

 

To create the magic, the songs are based on the lyrics of Padma Awardee and noted Marathi poet N. D. Mahanor’s astonishing poetry. The music in this movie speaks the heart of the character Major Robert Gill and his lady love Paro giving Ajintha a timeless feel like song Lal Hori…. The songs are romantic with the touch of the class music creating the most classical romantic musical album for 2012.

 

 

The movie includes 10 songs like Dolyanna dasale pahaad ithale…, Pikla hangama…, Mana Chimba…, to mention few sung by the 18 finest singers, making a history with over 80 artist & musician working as a team. The hypnotising music is filled with surprises. Almost all the musical instruments are LIVE and acoustic with over 35 percussion instruments giving a complete new perspective to the music of Marathi cinema. Several eminent singers like Suresh Wadkar, Ravindra Sathe, Avdhoot Gupte, Hamsika Iyer, Dr. Neha Rajpal, Amruta Subhash, Priyanka Burve, Anandi Joshi, Madhura Kumbhar, Sai Tembhekar, Hrishikesh Ranade, Tejswini Kelkar, Kshitij Tare, Milind Ingle, Urmila Dhanger, Yogita Godbole, Kalyani Salunke, most awaited Pt.Satyasheel Deshpande and the music director himself Kaushal Inamdar.

 

 

On the launch said Kaushal Inamdar, “I’m glad to be associated with Nitin Chandrakant Desai and Mahanor Sir for this film. I was involved in this project from day one and the most memorable part was when out of 10 songs, we could compose 7 songs in one day at Ajanta caves in the presence of Nitin Sir and Mahanor Sir. Even if you try, it’s very difficult to create bad music with such a great lyrics. I’ve got a great team and challenging movie to work with.”

 

 

Adding on the music launch Desai said, “I’m sure all the songs in the movie will be appreciated not only by Maharashtrian listeners by non-marathi speakers as well. This movie is a dream of Mahanor Sir and it’s a great honour to fulfill his 32 years of dedication towards Ajanta on a big screen. All the departments in Ajintha have done a great job specially costumes, make-up and jewellery which really takes you to 18th century. This album is an extravaganza, which will make everyone fall in love with the music again”.

 

It is very essential for the viewers to believe in the character while watching the movie. To create the era and make the movie more believable and realistic Neeta Lulla and Poonam designed the apt costume and adding to the feel was in the hands of make-up designer Vikram Gaikwad and Suhas Gavte. The look of Paro was made more authentic with the support of jewellery from PNG made out of real gold and silver. The mammoth task was, complete body paint to make all the villagers including the lead Sonalee Kulkarni look dusky to match the concept of tribal villagers.

 

The grand music launch with the entire team of Ajintha and glimpses of the movie along with the LIVE performance of Sonalee Kulkarni and her unique look made this event one of the most memorable event for everyone.
