Studio Number 3 (MV3) of BBC Maida Vale Studios in London is where Legendary American Singer and actor Bing Crosby had done his last recording session and years later India’s Legendary Sufi Singer Kailash Kher along with his band Kailasa was invited to perform at this prestigious studio.
On April 3rd, 2012, one day prior to the start of their first ever UK tour, Kailash Kher and the band Kailasa recorded at the exalted BBC Maida Vale Studios. The studio in the past has had only few of the accomplished and esteemed artistes like Indian artiste and master of percussion, Zakir Hussain, who first recorded at Maida Vale in the mid 1970s. After Ustad Zakir Hussain only handful of artists like vocalist Susheela Raman, jazz pianist Zoe Rahman and musician/composers Nitin Sawhney and Talvin Singh were invited to record in these studios.
Talking about this experience Kailash Kher said, “I am overwhelmed being in a place where top recording artistes like David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin have performed. I can feel their energy and am blessed.”
