Ae Dil Hai Mushkil opens to an overwhelming response
Karan Johar’s highest opening day
One of the most-awaited film of the year, Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil got an overwhelming opening day of ₹13.30 crore. That it also happened to be the first day of Diwali – Dhanteras – was the just the golden lining needed for the release.
Hailed as yet another bold and engaging narrative on relationships after Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, the film cements Karan Johar as the master filmmaker at capturing nuances of complex love stories.
Masses, critics and social media are all agog about ADHM – right from its good-looking and talented cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma (a casting coup in recent times), the characters of Ayan, Alizeh and Saba, their unrequited love stories and the music by Pritam Chakrabarty. The film, it seems, had something for everyone – even as it had them going through a roller-coaster of emotions – from endless fun to endless tears.
Even as the word-of-mouth is spreading among the masses to catch the film, where you will never see a star-power-filled cast like that in a bold film for a long time, the box-office openings worldwide has been thunderous. It’s also proof of the combined power of Karan Johar-Ranbir Kapoor – Pritam – they have created box-office magic for the second time around!
