Actress Sonam Sheds Light On How Tridev Was A “Game-Changer” In Her Career On The Film’s 34th Anniversary!
The 1989 blockbuster film Tridev, known for its chartbuster songs and memorable performances by legendary actors like Nasseruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Sunny Deol, Madhuri Dixit and Sonam, rang in its 34th anniversary today, July 7. Actress Sonam played a pivotal role in the movie as Renuka, and she is remembered for her dance performance in the iconic songs “Oye Oye” and “Tirchi Topiwale” from the film to date. Tridev holds a special place in her heart, and the actress recently shed light on how the film catapulted her to fame.
As Tridev completed 34 years from its release, Sonam, took a trip down memory lane and revealed how the film was a “game-changer” in her career. She shared, “Tridev was a game changer in many ways. I was not the first choice for Tridev. I was taken in at the last minute. It was at the last moment I got the part that I was supposed to do, and I did it.” When asked about her favourite co-star, the actress, without any qualms, replied saying, “Tridev was a very important movie for me. It brought a lot of recognition, and I got to work with Nasseruddin Shah. He is one of my favourite co-stars to work with. He is so talented and friendly at the same time, which was really helpful for someone who was new to the whole set-up.”
Even today, many millennials enjoy listening to the catchy numbers from Tridev. The movie was an action thriller, directed by Rajiv Rai. Apart from Sonam, Nasserddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, and Sunny Deol, the film also starred Sangeeta Bijlani, Anupam Kher, and Amrish Puri in key roles.
