Atithi Gupta Showed an Utterly Feminine Line at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012
Mumbai, Tuesday, August 07, 2012: Fabrics played a creative role as georgettes, wrinkled crepe, chiffon and cotton silk came together for Atithi Gupta’s Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 collection. Detailing was at centre stage as fine pleating for tops, jumpsuits and dresses floated down the ramp. The colours were firm on blue, black, grey and purple.
Keeping the dress length to short, Atithi showed a smocked waist mini with lace bodice, then added on a loose thread bolero and pin tucked long pants.
When it came to detailing, lace insets appeared regularly for necklines, shoulders and at different parts of the outfits. The purple drop shoulder creation with lace inset, the ombré purple draped bodice dress with silver Lurex bolero and the grey sari drape chiffon mini glided down the ramp. Atithi proved her skills with draping, pleating, pin tucks and mixed them cleverly with lace and embroidery.
Stopping the show was Huma Qureshi who made her Bollywood debut in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ wearing a draped black lace dress and a gold bolero.
From day to evening wear, the silhouettes were classic yet feminine with a mixed colour story of many hues from Atithi Gupta.
Nupur Kanoi Presented A Fashionable Chapter With Her Collection At Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012
Calling her collection “Chapter Two” at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012, Nupur Kanoi was inspired by the Trojan and Grecian era of perfection, when romance was very much a part of history for goddesses and warriors.
Nupur’s colour choice was sombré with black and indigo which had touches of white as well as hints of sea green. The silhouettes were voluminous yet asymmetric with very interesting cord and thread embroidery that played along with the tie and dye pieces, which were in perfect juxtaposition with the armour like surfaces. Embroidery was in white, blue, green and completely covered the surfaces of the garments.
The leafy prints were used for trousers, tracksuits, jumpsuits and shirts all combined skilfully by Nupur to present a very coordinated look. The skirts, trousers, jackets were stylish with rich fabrics like silk, chiffon and georgette being the right choice for the garments. The final three entries featuring peplum jackets worn with asymmetric godet shirts and embroidered pants made a great fashion statement.
With shirts and trousers forming a major part of the collection the stylish “Chapter Two” garments from Nupur Kanoi will be the first choice of the stylish woman.
Ruchika Sacheva’s Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 Collection Was A Fashionable Mix Of Androgynous Chic Styles
Inspired by the Indian Maharaja and the Sadhu, Ruchika Sachdeva’s Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 collection was a strong androgynous offering. Combining the two contrasting themes, Ruchika visualised sharply cut blazers and trousers, elegant silk blouses, smart shirt dresses and feminine pleated dresses that would be timeless fashion favourites. Shades of maroon, burnt orange, olive and mustard were the prime choice of the designer, while hand woven pure cotton denim, crepe, wool and tulle formed the base.
Adding on a fun element, Ruchika had white ghungroos and embroidered moustaches to present the theme on the garments. Women’s wear was slightly androgynous with floppy jackets, piped sleeves, and pockets, long jacket/dresses, and loose shirt-coats with fake waistcoat accents, jumpsuits and blouses. Tulle was used as an interesting embellishment and appeared at times only in the front of the garment or followed the lines of the solid shape below.
Experimenting with men’s wear for the first time, Ruchika followed her distinct styling details in classic tailoring for the stronger sex combining it with unconventional detailing to define the look. Tulle appeared for the menswear too, with a slight reversal in silhouettes – wide culotte trousers, V neck tunics and elongated shirts.
Ruchika Sacheva’s line for men and women was a unique offering for the Winter/Festive 2012 season.
