Amole Gupte better known for Taare Zameen Par and Stanley Ka Dabba has a tremendous know how of child pyschology and having an eye for talent can play with their young characters and extract the desired results.
This time on he experiments with an eight year old Sikh boy Sunny Gill ( Khushmeet Gill ) who is deprived of the sense of smell which turns out to be a huge liability for the family whose business of manufacturing Aachar and Spices essentially thrives on the sense of smell.
Now the little Sunny boy experiences his disability during his short journey through school and neighbourhood which is very nicely shot by Amole Gupte. Now by sheer accident and misadventure on the part of the little boy , he acquires an heightenend sense of smell which turns into an asset for the school and the neighbours of the society he lives in.
Amole Gupte with typical Enid Blyton and Hardy Boys Adventure series style goes about unfolding the story and the spy adventure drama from the viewpoint of Sunny’s new found extraordinary gift of sniffing out the problems and sighting lthe solutions for the same.
On the musical front Amole has roped in his best friend Vishal bhardwaj to render the soulful number “Aur Kitni Dur”. Composed on the lines of “Meri Maa” sung by Shankar Mahadevan , in Taare Zameen Par, the emotional melancholic ballad gives us a gllimpse of Mujtaba Aziz’s music direction. The songs video features Sunny Gill brooding while going through an ordinary school boy’s routine.
