AT A GLITTERING CEREMONY OF THE MIRZYA MUSIC LAUNCH, AN EMOTIONAL ANIL KAPOOR INTRODUCES HIS SON HARSHVARDHAN KAPOOR
At a very well attended function by industry and media alike, the MIRZYA MUSIC LAUNCH took place on the auspicious occasion of EID at the J. W. Marriott Hotel in Mumbai.
The event opened with a soulful rendition of the title track, MIRZYA by Daler Mehndi in his resonating voice and left the audience mesmerised, setting the trend for a beautiful evening of a musical extravaganza.
The much awarded Director of the film, RAKEYSH OMPRAKASH MEHRAentered and introduced the audience to the story of the film based on the folklore of MIRZA-SAHIBAN. He recounted his childhood encounter with the story and his fascination for it ever since. A question which led him to seek an answer to the vexing question of why do we hurt the one we most love and “Why did Sahiban break the arrows”. This question led him to the door of Gulzar Sahib, who he then went on to introduce.
Oscar winning writer and lyricist of the film, GULZAR then entered to a thunderous applause. Gulzar then recited the poetic lyrics of an as yet unreleased song, EK NADI, in his sonorous voice, which left the audience moved. The video of this song was also played at this event.
The two artists, ANUJ CHAUDHRY and ANJALI PATIL were introduced to an appreciative audience, who were meeting them for the first time.
Another unreleased video of the love song from the film, CHAKORA, was also unveiled at this glittering function. The song went live on YouTube immediately after this playout.
GULZAR and SHANKAR EHSAAN LOY entered together and as GULZARrecited the sweet lyrics of the song AAVE RE HITCHKI, all about a lover missing his loved one when she is away from him. SEL then, in their classic style, sang the song, before the video was released at the function.
Then came the surprise highlight of the evening! Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra walked on stage and invited the two debutant leads,HARSHVARDHAN KAPOOR and SAIYAMI KHER, who walked in to thunderous applause and a standing ovation! After a brief media interaction after the applause died down, they exited stage.
The MC for the evening then invited the two Chief Guests the international screen legend, Mr. Anil Kapoor and Mr. Vinod Bhanushali of T-Series on stage for a few words of encouragement to the stars and the film.
Speaking very emotionally at the event, Anil Kapoor spoke about his son, debutant Harshvardhan Kapoor, with warmth and affection and said that Harsh had achieved what he had on his own completely and praised him for being his own man. He also warmly thanked the director, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, for discovering his son and giving him this glorious platform as a launch pad. While thanking the media and the industry friends, he also requested them all to give his son the same love and affection and support that they had given his family and him over the years.
The event ended on a high note with the song HOTA HAI being played out but certainly left the enthralled audience wanting much more from the star performers and the actors.
The beautiful evening was graced by the august presence of the proud parents of Harsh, Sunita and Anil Kapoor, Grandmother Nirmal Kapoor,Sridevi and Bonney Kapoor, Maheep and Sanjay Kapoor, Shabana Azmiand Javed Akhtar, Tanvi Azmi, Sonam and Rhea Kapoor, Mohit Marwah,Atul Kasbekar, Anil Thadani amongst many others.
A lavish buffet of Rajasthani cuisine awaited the guests after the event.
