On the occasion of legendary lyricist and poet Kaifi Azmi’s 90th birth anniversary – 14thJanuary; Saregama, India’s flagship music and entertainment Company along with the talented actress and a proud daughter, Shabana Azmi presents handpicked melodies of the maestro as LEGENDS – KAIFI AZMI, a milestone collection.  

 

The album was launched at Hotel Novotel Mumbai by Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor along with Mr. Adarsh Gupta, Business Head, Saregama India Ltd.,  Honoured guests for the evening was Khaiyyaam Saab, Javed Akhtar,Baba Azmi, Tanvi Azmi,  Ila Arun, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Shaad Ali, .

 “Legends – Kaifi Azmi” is an epic compilation containing immortal songs of Kaifi saheb right from his first film “Buzdil (1951) to Tamanna (1996). Kaifi saheb, the true legend that he was, has penned some of the most immortal songs of all times and this album is our tribute to his genius. His songs have that poignancy because he always drew his inspiration of the art from real life and the colours around him.
 
This prestigious pack is a true connoisseur’s delight with some of the most memorable songs of Indian cinema, of the golden era of great poetry and melody.  Whether it was his soulful lyrics of “Kagaz Ke Phool”, or patriotic songs of “Haqeeqat” or ghazals of “Pyar Ka Jashn” all of them were amongst the best in their genres. Every song has a beautiful depth which is why his work is celebrated till date and has been set to tune by the most famous music composers of his time.

 

Apart from memorable songs, this album is interspersed   with voiceovers of Kaifi saab, Khaiiyaam saab, Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar,  Waheeda Rehmanji, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar…..
