In an effort to reach out and generate awareness, Bollywood superstar-humanitarian and heartthrob of millions of kids, SALMAN KHAN along with Cosmopolitan Friends Association came forward to spread cheer and help the lesser-privileged kids. The Cosmopolitan Friends Association is a charitable trust spear-headed by Mr. A. A. Khan, former Additional Commissioner of Police, his daughter Ms. Alisha A. Khan and his close group of friends. The trust was started to create awareness about the problems faced by the physically challenged, abandoned and orphaned children with a primary aim to take on initiatives to provide study material, adequate clothes and basic nutrition. Mr. A. A. Khan and his trust have been instrumental to the society and neighborhood in Versova by redeveloping the Janardhan Patil Kridangan Park, creating a ‘green-lung’ for the citizens in area.
Some of the NGOs/ institutions invited to be part of this special occasion were Anjuman-I-Islam’s A D Bawla Female Orphanage, St. Catherine’s Home, Sol’s ARC (Assessment and Remedial Centre) and Vimla Dermatological Centre.
Speaking on the special occasion, Salman Khan said, “I am glad to be part of this great cause. I’ve been associated with Mr. A. A. Khan for over two decades and I’m happy to extend my full support to him and these amazing children and their families. I’ve had a great time bonding and interacting with them and it has been a very heart-warming experience for me.”

Superstar Salman Khan, known for his generous deeds who always manage to take time out for such causes, proved to be a huge hit with the kids yet again. It was indeed heartening to see how all these kids (forgetting their own problems) warmed up to their favorite actor on this special event put together for them. Each of these institutions put up a song & dance especially for their super-hero, they performed on some of Salman’s latest chartbuster hits like ‘Dhinka Chinka’, ‘Character Dheela’, ‘Aaya Re Bodyguard’, ‘Udd Udd Dabangg’ to name a few.
The evening came to a blissful end with Salman handing over gifts and chocolates to each one of the kids, followed by a special meet & greet with him.
The event was also graced by other special guests like Mr. Aseem Gupta-Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mr. Nagrepatil-Additional Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dighavkar-Deputy Police Commissioner and two very prominent educationists – Principals Ajay Kaul and Dr. Vandana Lulla. Their trendsetting vision for the future of the children and their utter devotion to the cause of education is already proving to be an example to many.
The event hosted at the Janardhan Patil Kridangan Park symbolizes the association’s dedicated intent of providing Sports and Recreational facilities to the senior citizens as well as the children.

One of the primary aims of the Trust ‘Cosmopolitan Friends Association’ is to create awareness about the problems undergone by physically challenged, abandoned and orphaned children and providing them with study material, adequate clothes and basic nutrition. While at the same time we endeavour to teach them self reliance by training them in the art of self defence as also by coaching them in various fields of Sports to improve their physical ability. Presenting them with reading and writing material, clothes, nutritious food is a small beginning towards a larger goal where hopefully in the future we would be able to expand our activity to include a much wider segment of children as well as offer scholarships to the deserving ones.
