‘I say a little prayer for you’, Sherlyn Chopra lights a candle for the gang-rape victim on Christmas
16th December, 2012’, a date that will live in infamy in Indian history as a 23-year old medical student was gang-raped, assaulted and thrown out of a moving bus. This horrendous incident has taken the country by storm, and International Celebrity and Actress Sherlyn Chopra extended her support to the victim by lighting a candle and saying a little prayer for her on Christmas.
“I am deeply saddened by what happened to the victim in Delhi, I am hoping for a miraculous recovery for the brave young girl. I also wish that her family has the courage to sail through the tough times,” expressed Sherlyn.
Sherlyn has decided not to celebrate Christmas this year, and the actress shared, “I decided to wear black as a mark of protest against the absence of humanity and justice. I condemn the unlawful use of force and the way the non-violent protestors were manhandled at India Gate.”
Sherlyn has created quite a movement by making her followers consciousabout the situation on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Women safety should be on top priority according to Sherlyn and she has a few suggestions, “Security should be tightened for public transport services and the government should be in a proactive rather than reactive mode.”
Sherlyn continues to pray for the girl along with rest of the nation and is hoping that an incident like this is dealt with severity.
