High Street Phoenix hosted a special preview of VJTI college’s “TECHNOVANZA 2013” on 12th December
Students made Ratan Tata’s face using 1406 of Rubik’s Cubes& also displayed man-made robots
High Street Phoenix hosted VJTI college’s annual tech fest “Technovanza 2013” on 12th December. Last year the students made a portrait of Steve Jobs using almost 1600 rubik’s cubes & the year before that they made a portrait of Sachin Tendulkar. Both the art pieces were widely appreciated. This year the students made a portrait of Ratan Tata on the topicality of his impending retirement, apart from other ingenious events.
High Street Phoenix played host to a special preview of VJTI College’s “TECHNOVANZA 2013”, the institution’s annual fest that strives to give a new dimension to the society by making technology more accessible to the common man. It endeavored to educate people about the principles of engineering and thus spreading the knowledge of Engineering and Technology to the society at large.
The day begun around 12 pm and went on to 8 pm with 25 to 30 students from the college assisting the commoners, and encouraging them to participate in the various events that were organized at High Street Phoenix. The event showcased the following games and activities:
a) Master of Puppets – This event saw robots running on hand gesture and performed task as the participant pushed the placed balls into the basket through hand gestures.
b) Rubix Cube Art – Last year you experienced the large structure of Steve Jobs created by using more than 1500 Rubix Cubes. The year before that it was a portrait of Sachin Tendulkar. This time, on popular demand, they re-created the image of “Ratan Tata” using 1406 rubik’s cubes owing to his impending retirement.
c) Robo Snooker – This time, Technovanza ’13 brought us a brand new exciting event, where in one plays snooker with a robot instead of the Cue stick.
d) Wall-E – An autonomous robot traveled on its own following a line under various conditions.
About Technovanza:
Technovanza is the platform for students to apply the theoretical knowledge they gather in class-rooms and use it practically by making exhibits that can explain engineering principles to lay people. It is a great opportunity for students to showcase their potential and helps them in two ways. They make the exhibits with their own hands and then explain the concepts to the people who visit their stalls. The confidence the students get in first developing a concept, developing the prototype and then demonstrating it in front of people, goes a long way in making them ready to face the real world. The three day event has a various activities which are of interest to all type of visitors, young and old who visit or participate in the event. The Conference provides a great platform for people to keep abreast of the latest developments. There are many lectures by eminent speakers and group discussions in which many experts take part. For students and youngsters who visit there are a lot of competitions in which they can take part and win prizes. Parents and elders can visit the Exhibition and understand how various gadgets which they use in every-day life work. To the under-privileged students in schools the social initiative Pratigya brings technology to their door-step and inspires them to become engineers tomorrow.
