India’sNo. 1 Radio Network and Broadcaster of the year at Golden Mikes, 92.7 BIG FM’s Mumbai Station joinshands with the Western Railways and NGO – Humanitarian Welfare & ResearchFoundation in its latest campaign ‘SafetyManao, Life Banao’. The campaign takes on the most pressing issue of alarge part of Mumbai that uses the trains to commute – not restrictingthemselves to inside the train but also atop the train and endangering theirlives as they cross the railway tracks to save a few minutes in the daily rushto reach their place of destination. The campaign is an extension of its largercampaign on ‘Mumbai Manao, Life Banao’ whichcelebrates Mumbai. The campaign will see RJAnkit hosting the breakfast show from atop a bridge at one of Mumbai’sbusiest railway stations – Dadar from 7am to 11am each morning, until he gets aminimum of 9270 volunteers to support the cause and spread the awareness.
Local trains are Mumbai’s lifeline andgiven the recent spurt in train accidents, 92.7 BIG FM has taken up theresponsibility to drive awareness in a unique manner through this campaign. RJAnkit will be in his mobile radio studio at a key junction at Dadar RailwayStation. His show will involve – interviews with the authorities highlightingthe challenges that they face, speaking to passengers on the reasons and thrillthat they get out of endangering themselves, people who have survived accidentsto share their story, those who have lost someone to an accident and so on. Theshow will also see a slew of celebrities visiting the mobile studio as a markof support and encouragement to the campaign. Extending the campaign to socialmedia, RJ Ankit will also get aerial pictures of people endangering their liveswhich will be posted on the social media network and which will work as aneye-opener for those who see them.
Listenerscan participate in the initiative by sending in smses to 55454 showingtheir support and making a solemn promise to travel safely.
Mumbai’s local trains are undoubtedlythe lifeline of this fast moving city which carries six million people everyday to offices, shops and factories. Even after addition of more trains to theexisting fleet over the years, the trains still have to carry in excess of 1.5times their capacity during peak hours which causes frequent deaths and major accidentsamounting to 4000 per year on an average.
The NGO Humanitarian Welfare &Research Foundation specializes in supporting tragedy stuck areas, assistingless fortunate people, conducting multiple awareness drives, providing medicalaid to emergency areas and various other awareness campaigns.
