8th RENAULT STAR GUILD AWARDS (APSARA AWARDS) TO HONOUR THE BEST OF HINDI CINEMA AND TELEVISION

The Film and Television Producers Guild of India is all geared up for the 8th Renault Star Guild Awards powered by Venus Soaps (Apsara Awards) which will take place on the 16th of February in Mumbai. In addition to the existing categories, this year will commemorate the Yash Chopra Award. The award has been introduced in memory of the late director-extraordinaire, Yash Chopra, and will honour talent for the Best Debutant Director every year for Hindi film fraternity.
Instituted to commemorate extraordinary achievements in Cinema and Television, the film and television fraternity come together each year to celebrate and announce the most accomplished members of the fraternity, meriting them for their work in the previous year. The Awards honour excellence in the creative as well as technical categories.
Speaking on the announcement Mukesh Bhatt, President of the Film & Television Producers Guild of India said, “2012 has been an exciting year for the Indian film and television industry. The nominations for the 8th edition of the Renault Star Guild Awards were announced today with Barfi and Vicky Donor leading the nominations tally in 13 categories each, followed by Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur and Cocktail.
Ayushmann Khurrana (Vicky Donor), Hrithik Roshan (Agneepath), Irrfan Khan (Paan Singh Tomar), Manoj Bajpayee (Gangs of Wasseypur), Ranbir Kapoor (Barfi!) and Shahrukh Khan (Jab Tak Hai Jaan) have been nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role. In the Best Actress in a Leading Role category Deepika Padukone (Cocktail), Kareena Kapoor (Heroine), Parineeti Chopra (Ishaqzaade), Priyanka Chopra (Barfi!), SrideviBoney Kapoor (English Vinglish) and Vidya Balan (Kahaani) will vie for the trophy.
