5F Films, a conglomerate of professionals, announces the launch of a magnum opus presentation, a period feature film titled ‘KARBALA’, directed by Kalim Sheikh. For the first time in the history of international cinema the untold EPIC of the supreme sacrifice and heroic martyrdom of Imam Hussain (R.A.). (Grandson of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is being presented to the world audience through this film. The uniqueness of this subject is expected to attract an overwhelming attention globally.
The film is based on highly intriguing historic events which revolve around the journey of Imam Hussain (R.A.) and his eventual martyrdom along with his 72 faithful companions at the lands of KARBALA (a city in present day IRAQ) in the year 680 AD.
The movie showcases the valour at the highly uneven battle of Karbala where on one side were small pious group of Imam Hussain and his devoted followers including children, women and aged and on other side was a large military detachment from the forces of Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph. The sacrifice of Imam Hussain and his followers is symbolic of victory of truth against falsehood. The event is still mournfully remembered universally as the most tragic incident in the history of mankind.
It is unbelievable and sadly true that no film maker has ever attempted to present this epic which remains un-paralleled in history and has not reached the international audiences on a befitting large canvas.
The film is scheduled to be shot in 1st quarter of 2013 mainly in Rajasthan and partially in Middle-Eastern locations.
The filmmakers have done extensive research on this subject to ensure the historic authenticity is maintained and owing to the sensitivity of the subject adequate care has been taken to honour all sentiments involved.
