19TH SUR ARADHANA AWARDS HONOURED ANUPAM KHER !
In the 100th year of Indian Cinema, the 19th Blockbuster Sur Aradhana Awards honoured actor Anupam Kher at Sirifort Auditorium, New Delhi on December 20, 2012. He has been recognized as India’s Global Face and remembered for international projects like Bend it Like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice, The Mistress of Spices. He has featured alongside Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper and Chris Tucker in Silver Linings Playbook, which has got him a nomination for Screen Actors Guilde (SAG) awards with the cast.
Kher said, “I am pleased that I have received this award from Shri Murli Manohar Joshi. It is always encouraging to get acknowledged for the work you do. I am humbled by this gesture. Renowned artists like Bappi Lahiri, Lalit Pandit, L Subramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurti, Richa Sharma, Swanand Kirkire were also honoured for their contributions to the Indian music industry.
Kher was recently in news for his work in the Hollywood film Silver Linings Playbook where he plays the role of a doctor to Bradley Cooper. “As an actor, it is most gratifying to be recognised by one’s peers. Hence this nomination is a high point for me, professionally,” Kher said. The entire cast of the film has been nominated for SAG awards which will take place in January.
